“Dr Who” and “Hamlet” star David Tennant is to star in a radio adaptation of Craig Murray’s memoir Murder in Samarkand (Mainstream).

The book—by the activist, writer, and former British ambassador to Uzbekistan—has been adapted by playwright Sir David Hare, and will be broadcast as “The Saturday Play” on 20th February, with Clive Brill to direct. Tennant will play Murray while actress Jemima Rooper will provide the voice for Murray’s wife Nadira.

The title covers Murray’s time in Uzbekistan, and his removal from his post in October 2004 after exposing human rights abuses by the US-funded regime of President Islam Karimov.

The publisher is looking to re-promote the title in store offers.
